Jon Burkhart is Social Media Creative Director at iris Worldwide. 12 years into his copywriting career, Jon discovered Twitter and Facebook and quickly sold his soul to them. In the last 4 years, he’s created social media campaigns for 118 118, Pizza Hut, Setanta, Sony Ericsson, Adidas and the Liberal Democrats. His personal mission: turn all traditional advertising creatives into social media machines who create topical social ideas at speed. He calls this Urgent Genius. It’s all about creating content related to trending topics and memes. He’s preparing several Urgent Genius experiments and will present them at South By Southwest Interactive in 2011. He’s also cultivating an unhealthy love of power ballads. He plans to crowdsource the world’s first uber-cheesy rock anthem next year as well.
